Twisted Whiskers

If there’s one thing Moonscoop does and does well, they get some great toons together. Twisted Whiskers is one of their upcoming titles, billed as a 3D animated series. The series is based on the greeting card characters from American Greetings Corp who, along with Moonscoop and DQ Entertainment, continue production on their end. At the same time, the companies are working with a number of partners around the globe to make sure the toon gets on a TV near you. We know they’ve already visited Asia, but in Europe, they’ve already signed with France 3, KRO Netherlands, and Italy’s Disney Channel for the first 52 episodes. Cartoon Network has also acquired the rights in Latin America, and perhaps the United States, though we were unable to get confirmation on the latter at this time. No worries, we’ll keep digging 🙂 Check out a clip of the series in action

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep trailer

Kingdom Hearts has been one of the most successful, long-running video game franchises. Over the years, we’ve seen dozens of iconic Disney characters flooding the various plotlines, with Square Enix treating every one with the utmost respect and praise that they so rightfully deserve — yes, even the villains! Most of the games in the series have appeared on a Sony platform, though Nintendo DS did get one of it’s own with 358/2 Days. Now, in just a few more days on January 9th, the PSP will receive the latest game, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, promising a whole new adventure. The story is a prequel, taking place ten years before the first game on PS2, and features many previously unseen characters and unexplained plot elements from the original Kingdom Hearts series. Looking forward to it? Check out the trailer to see it in action

Help us shape ToonBarn’s future

This has been an awesome year for ToonBarn. We’ve been through some challenges since our launch in 2007; reboots, crashes, errors… But 2009 has been solid. We’ve rebuilt. New format. New design. New forum. Contests. Events. Giveaways. More stories. More news. Thousands of new registered users and thousands of new folks to check us out. That’s right, you! It’s your support and contributions that keep this place going! And now, as we plan for our future, we turn to you again, looking for help and suggestions. What would make ToonBarn better for you? What would you like to see here? What would get you to stay longer, visit more often, and bring your friends? Help us make this a better place!

Wear some snuggly Turtle Power

There have been a lot of really cool toon-related gifts and outfits over the years, but this might be our very favorite. Or, at the very least, something we’re definitely adding to our last minute Christmas lists! Hot Topic, the neato clothing store filling most local malls, is selling a Michelangelo styled Snuggie. As if that wasn’t enough, 80sTees is selling a Shredder styled hoodie! If you’re a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan like myself, or someone who just loves being cuddly and stylish, these are absolute must-buys! Check out some larger pics of the items below, and then get to shopping!

Gotta Catch Santa Claus

Gotta Catch Santa Claus

Cartoon Network has a goal; to Catch Santa. Well, ok, that’s not their goal. Their goal is to air “Gotta Catch Santa Claus”, a CG animated, holiday-themed special starring William Shatner as the voice of Santa. The story, produced by Cookie Jar Entertainment, is about Trevor; a true believer in the holiday spirit. Christmas, Santa, magic… the whole bit. Veronica is his skeptical best friend, who decides she’s going to challenge him to prove Santa is real. To do so, Trevor and his friends embark on the adventure of a lifetime to catch Santa in action and reveal the true magic of Christmas. But they’ve got to find Santa before LeFreeze – a dim-witted monster who’s carrying a serious 100-year-old grudge – and his snowman minions put Christmas on ice forever! Oh great, another evil villain. Can’t these guys leave the holidays alone?!!? Anyway, TOON in this week to Cartoon Network, which will be airing the Lionsgate special at regular intervals. And check out the trailer

Gormiti figures big in demand for the holidays

Gormiti figures big in demand for the holidays

A few days ago, we asked you what you were most hoping for this holiday season. A number of you have since responded with your various wish list items, ranging from toon-specific video games to toon-specific dolls. However, one specific item has made itself known both in your responses as well as reports around the globe: Gormiti is in! The property that has become a world-wide sensation is growing. The Polar Express on ABC

The Polar Express on ABC

In 1986, nearly 25 years ago, Chris Van Allsburg had a book published that he wrote and illustrated. It was a story he had been working on for years in his mind, called the Polar Express. Fast forward to 2004, and The Polar Express was a Hollywood blockbuster, animated in a style matched by A Christmas Carol, and earning millions from fans worldwide. Five years later, we’re finally at this week, when ABC and ABC Family, amongst several other local affiliates, will be playing the relatively new holiday special on TV. Check out the trailer after the break, and be sure to TOON in when it’s on TV
