CBBC’s Muddle Earth

CBBC's Muddle Earth

Joe, a boy from ordinary Earth, has been summoned by the wizard Randalf and his apprentice Newt, fights evil, confronts The Horned Baron, battles with Doctor Cuddles… geez, what is this? Sounds like Lord of the Rings! Close, actually – it’s Muddle Earth, a new CBBC series that recently premiered, based on Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell’s novel. The digitally animated series is a tongue-in-cheek not to J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings books (and later movies) taking many of the familiar aspects and turning them on their side. The series is directed by Vincent James and Tim Harper, and features the voice talents of Sir David Jason as Randalf. The second season is already in production, and should begin airing this September.

DreamWorks to Showtime

DreamWorks to Showtime

TV fans out there with the Showtime network are about to get a huge dose of DreamWorks! Disney recently signed a deal with Showtime, under which up to 35 of DreamWorks Studios films will air on the network over the next few years. While DreamWorks Animation is noted as it’s own separate company, and one with it’s own deal with HBO, this new deal is said to be an evolution type that could work hand-in-hand with the animation portion, giving the channel access to a number of the CG blockbusters in the DreamWorks lineup. If the deal does bring the CG toons to Showtime, which would you want to see first? Shrek? Madagascar? How to Train your Dragon? Kung Fu Panda?

Are you a fan? And if so, have you been around since the beginning, or are you new to the show?
