Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote star in Looney Tunes’ Fur of Flying

Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote star in Looney Tunes' Fur of Flying

The Road Runner runs. Wile E. Coyote chases. The struggle has gone on for 50 years, and will likely continue through the end of time. Though now, that chase has reached the Looney Tunes plateaus of both CG and 3D. And, no doubt, Wile E. Coyote is falling off said plateaus. The pair burst from the screen with state-of-the-art CG animation, rendered in stereoscopic 3D, in Fur of Flying, the second of three Looney Tunes theatrical 3D cartoon shorts featuring Wile E. Coyote’s epic quest to capture the Road Runner. Those of you who checked out Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole this weekend got your first look at the duo, and ACME products like a homemade helicopter helmet. Soaring through the sky and over the cliffs, it’s a surefire way to catch the Road Runner … assuming he can avoid military testing grounds.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole makes box office debut

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole makes box office debut

This past weekend, a legend was born on the screen. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps!! No… wait. Well, OK, the Wall Street movie did come in first once all was said and done at the box office. But, more importantly to us, the Owls of Ga’Hoole got their time to shine as well, with Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole just missing the top spot in it’s first weekend at theaters. Pulling in just over $16 million dollars over the three day span, the film is running on a par with expectations, which predict the tale to catch on slowly, but pick up steam as it goes. Alpha and Omega, the other animated flick in the bunch, was down to 8th place in it’s 5th week at the box office. Have you seen either, both, or neither?

Galaxy Pop and Network Ten present Get Ace

Galaxy Pop and Network Ten present Get Ace

Ace McDougal is a 12 year old nerd, living a regular nerd life, in his regular nerd town, with all the regular nerd pitfalls. He’s picked on, mistreated, is stuck with glasses, and now has to get braces, too. No worries, pal, some of us have been there, too. However, Ace has himself a bit of a huge advantage — instead of getting the braces some of us got, he’s accidentally fitted with a set of high-tech spy braces! The new cartoon series, produced by Galaxy pop, Network Ten, Screen Australia and Film Victoria, is already well into development, despite not being ready for TV until 2012. But as Australia’s most expensive cartoon production of all time, we’re expected good things from Get Ace. In fact, you could say we’re getting braced for them! Check out the theme song and full write up

Could Tim Burton take on Sleeping Beauty after Alice in Wonderland

Could Tim Burton take on Sleeping Beauty after Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton knows cinematic success. Disney ain’t too shabby either. Recently, the two paired to recreate one of the Magic Kingdom’s animated classics, Alice in Wonderland, to phenomenal success. With a full stable of other blockbusters in their lineup, it’s not too surprising that the grouping could work together once more on another film — and rumors point to Sleeping Beauty. The tale features a jilted sister named Maleficent, one of the scariest toons of all time, who is so ticked off that she didn’t get an invite to Aurora’s birthday, she turns into a dragon and tries to squash her. Well, not exactly, and we may have skipped a bit of the story, but those are some pretty key moments. What do you think, can Burton work his magic again? And would Johnny Depp play Prince Charming?

Mr. Men and Little Miss on your Nintendo DS

Mr. Men and Little Miss on your Nintendo DS

Cartoon Network’s happy little critters, Mr. Men and Little Miss, will be heading to your Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSi, and the rest of the extended DS family – minus their yet-to-be-born little brother, Nintendo 3DS. However, we’re not talking about a video game! An accessory company named Blaze has created the perfect protector case for your handheld gaming system, completely adorning in a style of the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters. We’d love to see a lot more of these cross overs – maybe a rubbery DS stylus in honor of Adventure time? Or a green DS with a eye mask, ala Ninja Turtles…?? Can you think of any others?

PokeFans create trailer for Pokemon Apokelypse

PokeFans create trailer for Pokemon Apokelypse

Maybe Youtube isn’t the video haven it was a few years ago, but it’s still a phenomenal place for fan created projects. Whether its some sorta MEME or AMV, or in this case, even the more intricate fan-made trailers. Pokemon Apokelypse might be one of the better examples we’ve ever seen of this concept, taking the Pokemon concept from the trading card game, the video games, and, of course, the animated series and faux-producing a real-looking movie trailer out of it. Even to the extent of including all of the key concepts of the hit, from Ash’s hat, to the Pokeball, the slogans (gotta catch’em all!), the enemies, to the Pokemon, themselves. So, OK, sure, this is just a fan created version of Nintendo’s pocket monster franchise, but… it looks like all the seeds are there to make something legit of it. Check it out and tell us what you think!

Niolan Entertainment welcomes The Droogles, by Breakthrough Entertainment

Niolan Entertainment welcomes The Droogles, by Breakthrough Entertainment

If there’s one thing Breakthrough Entertainment and Niolan Entertainment are good at teaming up on, it’s the creation of new CG toons. With upcoming hits like The Mooh Brothers and Robot Zoo, the duo is already well on their way to establishing a robust lineup! Now, adding a third to the mix, the pair have begun teasing The Droogles, a mix of 2D, CG, and even puppet animation featured in an all new world. The Droogles, a bunch of critters that look like baby dragons, spend their time on daily adventures, exploring their environment with a sense of wonder, as if for the first time.

First look at the All-Star Superman DVD and Blu-ray trailer

First look at the All-Star Superman DVD and Blu-ray trailer

DC Comics sure doesn’t let the stories grow cold! As soon as one DVD hits the stands, they’re already promoting two or three others, getting us all excited for the future. We’re just weeks since launching Batman: Under the Red Hood, and days before the launch of Supergirl’s Superman Batman Apocalypse, now we’re getting our sights on the upcoming All-Star Superman DVD and Blu-ray. Based on the 12-issue comic book arc by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, the film follows Superman as he decides how to spend his remaining year, and what’s truly important to the last survivor of Krypton. You see, it was recently learned Superman was dying. Spoilers! OK, not really, that part is given out in the first few seconds. You’ll have to watch on to learn more when the film comes out next year — in the meantime, check out the teaser trailer right here

If you’re ever on Planet Bot, be sure to head to Robot Zoo

If you're ever on Planet Bot, be sure to head to Robot Zoo

Planet Bot; a place where robots live, work, play, retired, and generally enjoy life in ways just like you and I. Except, of course, they’re robots, living across distant galaxies where such things are possible. We’ve seen similar environments on shows like Futurama, but now Breakthrough Entertainment and Niolan Entertainment are spinning their own, new version with Robot Zoo. The “retro style” animation takes place on Planet Bot, where Zoiboid and his family journey on their daily adventures, like visiting the hottest spot on Planet Bot, the Robot Zoo. Meanwhile, Pholon and Bexera find themselves racing on the backs of bouncing Robots (Rabbit Robots?), the oceans are filled with Seatrons, and the AirDroids, well… they have a mind of their own.

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse features Superman and Batman. On Apocalypse.

Superman Batman Apocalypse features Superman and Batman On Apocalypse

Apocalypse is not a nice place. I mean, your first clue is probably the name. “Apocalypse” doesn’t exactly have the feel of “Beach Front resort.” If that didn’t define the place well enough, just look at it! It’s red and black and decaying and covered in billowing smoke and fire and zombie-like slaves and hordes of freaky parademons… not fun. No wonder Superman looks all angry up there – someone rearranged his travel plans! He’s not alone, though. In the full scene (which we’ve got, below!) Supes is standing side by side with Batman, Wonder Woman, and his cousin Kara, better known as Supergirl, as the foursome does battle with Apocalypse’s Darkseid and Granny Goodness for the fate of the universe. And, I guess, some beach front timeshare somewhere. Those details aren’t fully known yet. Maybe the upcoming Superman/Batman: Apocalypse Blu-ray and DVD will shed some light on the situation when Warner Bros. releases it September 28th!
