Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash… who else should be in Young Justice?

Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash... who else should be in Young Justice?

We’re just a few episodes in to Cartoon Network’s latest superhero series Young Justice, and fans are already debating who else should be on the squad. The same was true of the CN’s previous trip through the DC Universe, Justice League, and back then, the channel was more than happy to sprinkle in a number of guest stars, team-ups, and add-ons — even moreso when Justice League Unlimited ballooned the super roster to dozens to heroes. No official talk of expansion yet for the YJ squad, but that wont stop us from making dream teams! Who do you think should join Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Miss Martian? Make Speedy official? Raven from Teen Titans? Static Shock? Blue Beetle from the Brave and the Bold?

Gnomeo & Juliet in theaters February 11

Gnomeo & Juliet in theaters February 11

As we quickly approach Valentine’s Day’s holiday and season of love, its important to reflect upon the most famous and romantic relationship of them all; Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s tribute to the heart. Now, it’s a little known fact that Mr. Shakespeare, or “Willy” as he liked to be known, was a fan of stories and re-tellings. He also enjoyed spoofs, cartoons, garden gnomes, Elton John music, and CG animated 3D films. …at least, that’s what we’ve heard. And if, in fact, all of that were somehow amazingly true, we imagine Willy would have loved to see Gnomeo & Juliet, the upcoming film that combines all of those facets. The Rocket Pictures, Starz Animation, and Touchstone Pictures production is set for theaters February 11th, so be sure to go and attend in Willy’s honor!

Superman flies with Henry Cavill

Superman flies with Henry Cavill

Superman returns! Wait, no, that happened already. OK, maybe this would be better known as Superman Returns …More! As Hollywood waits to embrace another film about everyone’s Man of Steel, the world waited while that S-shield-fitted shirt was filled out. Would Zack Snyder’s new take on Big Blue bring back Brandon Routh? Could this be the big chance for Smallville’s Tom Welling? Turns out both of those options couldn’t leap tall buildings — at least not in a single bound. Instead, Henry Cavill, the star of Showtime’s series “The Tudors,” has been cast as iconic superhero in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures next Superman film. Sounds good, but will he fly…?

Sony's Open Season 3 on Blu-ray and DVD

Boog, Elliot, and their forest friends return with all-new Big Top Circus adventures in the third Open Season flick, now available on Blu-ray and DVD. Open Season 3 brings Sony Pictures Animation back to form, when Boog’s pals choose their family obligations over the annual guy’s trip, and a disappointed Boog decides to take a trip of his own, which leads him right into the middle of a circus ring… literally. It’s there that he switches places with a devious look-a-like circus grizzly and falls for an alluring Russian troupe member. But maybe you don’t have to choose between family and friendship after all… you’ll just have to watch and see!

Alice in Wonderland 60th Anniversary Special Edition on the way

Alice in Wonderland 60th Anniversary Special Edition on the way

… leaders, and had been of late much accustomed to usurpation and conquest. Edwin and Morcar, the earls of Mercia and Northumbria, declared for him: and even Stigand… zzzZZZzzz …zzz… oh, wait, what? Sorry, I was just dozing off for a bit; daydreaming about this crazy, turned about world. There were smiling, disappearing cats, angry queens, characters changing size… hm. Sounds like a fun book. Maybe even a better movie! Alright, alright, so the whole thing already exists, can’t I have some credit…? No…? Well, can I at least announce that Disney will release Alice in Wonderland 60th Anniversary Special Edition Blu-ray & DVD in just a few days? Hm, I guess I just did. Fine, how’s that for a weird bit!!

Archer returns to FX

Archer returns to FX

When the International Secret Intelligence Service (or, “ISIS”) is put to work, you know the world is in danger. Or, that’s at least how the FX Network bills it’s animated series, Archer, whose every episode revolves around espionage, reconnaissance, wiretapping, and dozens of ways for the agents to undermine and sabotage one another for personal gain. Starring master spy Sterling Archer, the Flash animated toon heads into its second season this week, bringing a spy style (spyle?) to the world of animation. Is it just us, or does the animation style have a distinctly “Grand Theft Auto” flair…?
