Toei to Bring Driland to MIPCOM

Toei Animation will be introducing a new animated series called Driland at the MIPCOM market at Cannes this year. The new series is based on the popular social game of the same name, which was developed by social game developer GREE.

The 13 x 20 animated series will be bringing the game’s exciting storyline and rich mythology to life by focusing on the adventures of the game’s main characters, Princess Davina and her ragtag band of heroes – Milo the manservant, Horace the hunter and Ryan, the rear guard – as they go on a quest to find the most important treasure throughout Driland, but it’s not going to be an easy job as they need to contend with various monsters and come face to face with an ancient evil that is making its way across the land.

The Venture Bros. Returns for A Very Venture Halloween this October

Fans of The Venture Bros are in for a treat this coming October. No, they’re not returning for another season (yet), but they’ll be back for a very scary and hilarious (as expected of any show by Publick and Hammer) Halloween special. Titled ‘A Very Venture Halloween,’ the special is scheduled to premiere on October 28, 11:30 pm ET/PT on Adult Swim.

The Very Venture Halloween special will fill everyone’s goody bag with fun-sized Truth, as Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer return to their directorial, writing, and voicing duties, with Titmouse, Inc. still producing the special.

Disney Launches Frankenweenie Level Pack for Where’s My Water?

In support of the upcoming Tim Burton stop motion movie, Frankenweenie, Disney has just released the 10 Days of Frankenweenie level pack for their hit mobile game Where’s My Water? For free. Getting its inspiration from the upcoming film, the level pack will feature new black and white levels that combine the film’s look with the feel and gameplay of Where’s My Water?

Ameba Picks Up Ben and Izzy

In order to bolster the North American audience exposure for their animated kids’ series Ben and Izzy, RGH Entertainment has recently struck up a partnership deal with Canadian multiplatform streaming company Ameba.

Currently enjoying a successful run on Cartoon Network Arabia, Ben and Izzy is a CG-animated action-adventure comedy that focuses on the adventures of two curious 11 year old boys: the American Ben, and the Jordanian Izzy. The two boys journey alongside their archeologist grandfathers to ancient times and landmarks throughout Africa and the Middle East.

Technicolor and Mercury Introduces Atomic Puppet

Technicolor has recently announced an agreement with Canadian studio Mercury Filmworks in order to co-produce and co-develop a new kids’ animated TV series titled Atomic Puppet. The company is planning to present the new series to international buyers during the MIPCOM market in Cannes this year via the Buyers Club Level 01 in the Palais des Festivals.

Disney Jr. Acquires New Small Potatoes Movie

Disney Jr. has recently acquired broadcast rights to the new 45-minute special debut of Small Potatoes – Meet the Small Potatoes for the US and Japan. Meet the Small Potatoes is the first animated movie from Little Airplane Productions, and stars the four popular musical spuds along with famous actor Malcolm McDowell. The movie is scheduled to premiere in the US in early 2013 via the Disney Channel and Disney Junior, Japan will follow later in the same year via Disney Junior.

It turns out that Hal and Guy have contrasting personalities, and get along like oil and water, which doesn’t help at all considering that they’ll need each other’s help if they ever plan on doing anything against the invading force of autonomous killing machines, the Manhunters.

Planeta Junior Presents European Children’s Animation Co-Productions at MIPJUNIOR

Leading European kids programming production and distribution company Planeta Junior will be participating in this year’s MIPJunior in Cannes (October 6 & 7) by presenting three of their most recent animated co-productions: Camille, Egyxos, and Magiki.

The new productions will be spearheading Planeta Junior’s offering for the coming season, but far from being alone, they will be joined by established titles such as Maya the Bee 3D, which is scheduled to premiere this fall in Spain and Italy, and Vicky the Viking 3D, which will present its first episode in the audiovisual market.
