NFL Rush Zone Premieres on Nicktoons

The first ever original animated series developed by a cable network and a major US sports league, NFL Rush Zone: Season of the Guardians, will be debuting its second season on Nicktoons today via a one hour premiere at 9 PM with an encore on NFL Network, Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:00 a.m. (ET). NFL Rush Zone: Season of the Guardians airs regularly Fridays at 9:00 p.m. (ET) on Nicktoons and Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. (ET) on NFL Network.

Dinosaur Train Introduces New Characters

Emmy-nominated animated children’s series Dinosaur Train will be introducing two new characters in new episodes that will be airing starting on Monday,December 10, on PBS Kids (check local listings for date and time).

The new characters will be Grandma and Grandpa Pteranodon, whom the kids will meet for the first time during the first two episodes of the week. The grandparents and their dino grandchildren will be exploring their heritage while creating new adventures. Along the way, they’ll be visiting the grandparents’ cliff side nest and look at Dad’s childhood nature collection. The episodes will see them come face to face with a crabby crocodile, an egg stealing mystery, and a night time meteor shower that concludes with a treasure hunt for amber.

New Star Wars: The Clone Wars Clip – Secret Weapons

This coming Saturday, December 1st at 9:30am ET/PT on the Cartoon Network, a brand new story arc will unfold, featuring a refreshing focus on one of the most iconic characters in the franchise: R2 D2. Titled “Secret Weapons,” the episode will also feature a bunch of droids, but probably not the droids that we are looking for. Check out the clips released by Lucasfilm:

Mythbusters Hosts Gets Kid Versions with Mythbusters Kids

Discovery Communications has just launched a new national ad campaign that introduces much younger versions of popular Mythbusters co-hosts Kari Byron, Grant Imahara, and Tori Belleci, in order to promote the relatively new Discovery Kids brand.

The Mythbusters Kids campaign is touted as an aspirational campaign, and will be seamleslly tied in to the Discovery Kids consumer product line. The duration of the campaign will be 16 months, wherein the brand will focus on kids as future leaders, explorers, and will show the three Mythbusters co-hosts in home video style TV commercials that show their younger versions as ideal “Discovery Kids”.

India Gets Side the Science Kid

The Jim Henson Company’s 66×30 hit animated preschool series, Sid the Science Kid, has just been acquired by Indian broadcaster Zee for their newly launched edutainment channel called Zee-Q, which is aimed towards K4-14.

The Jim Henson Company will be showcasing Sid the Science Kid at the upcoming Asia Television Forum, as well as the Asian Animation Summit, where they will be meeting with other potential co-production partners.

FX’s Archer Returns in January

The FX Network has announced the date of the much-awaited return of its popular animated series Archer, setting it as January 17, 2013 at 10 AM. Archer has been nominated for both the Emmy and Annie awards, and boasts of an impressive voice cast that includes the likes of H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Judy Greer and Chris Parnell. It is also one of FX’s top rating shows, with its 3rd season managing to get over two million viewers per episode compared to its previous season.

A new preview clip has been released for this week’s heartwarming episode of Pound Puppies, titled “Pound Preemies,” which is scheduled to air on The Hub at 9 AM ET this Saturday, December 1.

The Pound Preemies episode focuses on an expectant pooch that arrives at the pound. It is then up to the Pound Puppies and the Secret Pup Club to take care of the expecting pooch and ensure that the delivery goes well. Of course, this being the Pound Puppies, they also need to ensure that the newborn “preemie” pups find the right homes when they’re ready to be adopted.

We’re only a couple or so weeks away from the Blu Ray and Blu Ray 3D release of Finding Nemo 3D, which should be the perfect gift during the holidays, as Finding Nemo’s beautiful rendering of Nemo, Dory, and Marlin’s undersea adventures is one of the few CG animated movies that must be really seen in full HD glory (something that only a Blu Ray disc is capable of doing outside of the theaters).

Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob Rank as Top Animated Series with Kids for the Month

November is a good month for Nickelodeon, as two of their shows – Spongebob Squarepants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – managed to rank as the top two animated series with K2-11 across all TV, with TMNT’s viewership averaging 4.9/1.6 million while Spongebob garnered 6.2/2.1 million. The two shows are also the top animated shows among total viewers, garnering 4.1 million total viewers and 3.3 million total viewers.

Fresh off the success of its hit movie premiere, Disney’s newest addition to their roster of animated princesses, Sofia the First, will be starting its series run on Friday, January 11 on the Disney Channel at 9:30 am and on Disney Junior at 5:30 pm. Targeted towards young kids aged 2 to 7 as well as their parents, Sofia the First focuses on the story of an ordinary girl who finds herself turned into a princess, with her journey consisting of learning what it truly takes to become a princess: honesty, loyalty, compassion, and grace.
