Star Wars Rebels Trailer Debuts on Star Wars Day, May 4

This coming Sunday, May 4th, the Rebellion will finally begin, with the grand debut of Star Wars Rebels’ official trailer! And perfect timing too, as May 4th is Star Wars Day – the perfect day to showcase the latest addition to the long-running sci-fi franchise’s rich treasure trove of animated shows.

Star Wars Rebels will be debuting in the US via Disney XD, during its premiere of LEGO’s Star Wars: The New Yoda Chronicles at 7:00 pm ET/PT. The trailer will also air on Disney Channel, BC, ABC Family, Fusion, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN3 at varying times throughout the day.

Littlest Pet Shop Returns for its 3rd Season

Littlest Pet Shop fans are in for a treat this month as their favorite series will be returning for a third season on May 31, at 9:30 am ET/6:30 am PT via The Hub Network. Blythe and her little cute (and furry!) friends will be returning in full force, with Julie McNally Cahill, Tim Cahill, Kirsten Newland and Stephen Davis serving as executive producers of the series. The Littlest Pet Shop is still produced by Hasbro Studios.

The third season of The Littlest Pet Shop will kick off with the episode “Sleeper,” which follows Vinnie and Sunil as they are challenged by Russell to entertain Mr. VonFuzzlebut, who is a jovial raccoon and a new day camper. Unfortunately, Mr. VonFuzzlebut falls into a deep sleep, confusing the pets.

Warner Brothers Reveals DC-Related Big Screen Plans

Over the weekend, The Wall Street Journal managed to get Warner Bros. To confirm their plans over their DC Comics properties, showing that the studio is intent on catching up to Marvel as far as comic book movies are concerned.

According to Warner Bros., director Zack Snyder will be following up his Superman vs. Batman (tentative title) with a team-up movie – a full-blown Justice League movie. The Superman vs. Batman feature for its part is already shooting, with both Wonder Woman and Cyborg confirmed as having roles in the story.

Wonder Woman, as previously reported, is played by Gal Gadot, while the role of Cyborg went to Ray Fisher. They will be joining the previously confirmed Ben Affleck and the returning Henry Cavill as Batman and Superman, respectively. All actors will be reprising the roles for Justice League.

See Harry Potter as an 80s Cyberpunk Anime

The Harry Potter franchise is not the first thing that will come to mind when you think of the word Cyberpunk (though you could eventually connect the two given some of the gadgets and visuals in the films), but Nacho Punch has recently posted a parody video that bridges the gap, reimagining J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise as an 80s Cyberpunk Anime in the same vein as Akira.

You can watch the video below in case you can’t imagine Kaneda and magic wands in the same story:

Fanimation: Batman vs. Terminator

Batman has already seen his fair share of inter-franchise crossovers. He’s either teamed-up or faced a Predator, an Alien, and even Judge Dredd. He’s even had run-ins with Dracula. I didn’t exactly do any research, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a Robocop/Batman team-up in there somewhere.

The point is Batman gets around. And even though it’s unofficial, animator Mitchell Hammond is bringing us a future version of Batman lending his help in the fight against the forces of Skynet in Batman vs. the Terminator. You can check out the fan animated short below:

Top 5 Best Anime/Manga Live Action Adaptations

Most of the time, when news about a new live action adaptation of a popular manga or anime franchise surfaces, fans groan collectively. If the studio and creative staff behind said adaptation are credible, fans might give it a chance but on the whole, every single new live-action adaptation makes fans feel that we’ll get another Dragonball: Evolution on our hands.

Below are some of the rare cases where the live action adaptation actually managed to please fans of the source material (and in some cases managed to turn out as films that can be appreciated even by people who are not familiar with the original manga/anime):

Disney Brings Back the 7 Dwarfs in The 7D

This coming July, the House of Mouse will revisit Snow White’s 7 faithful little helpers and friends, the 7 Dwarfs, via the new animated series The 7D. However, these little dwarfs might be a little different from the ones people remember as The 7D is a contemporary, comedic take on the 7 little dwarfs. The series will debut on Disney XD on July 7 at 10 am ET/PT, followed by airings on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior later this year.

The 7D boasts of a voice cast that includes Jay Leno and Whoopi Goldberg, who will be playing the Crystall Ball and the Magic Mirror, respectively. The series also features Kelly Osbourne as the evil villain Hildy Gloom.

Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 Makes Its Way to 3DS This August

This coming August 7, Bandai Namco Games will be releasing the sequel to Dragon Ball Heroes for the 3DS, which is based on the card-based arcade game of the same name. Dubbed Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2, the game will pack more than 2000 cards and will come packed with a bonus set of physical cards that can be used in the arcade game.

A new feature is a so-called “Ultimate Universe Mode,” but details on what exactly it is has not been announced yet. Unfortunately for people in the West, the release is Japane-only for now. You can check out the trailer below to see it in action:

New Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist Trailer Features Ken

The previous Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist trailer focused on Ryu, which is understandable as the white gi-wearing world warrior is pretty much synonymous with the franchise. However, fans of the Ryu’s fellow student of ansatsuken, the red gi-wearing Ken Masters, will appreciate the new trailer as it shows a little bit of the path that he took in order to get to where he is now.
