Capcom Files Patent Infringement Case Against KOEI Tecmo

Last Tuesday, Sankei News reported that video game developer Capcom has filed a patent infringement case against another game studio, KOEI Tecmo, over the games Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors. Now, this may seem odd to most gamers because the Dynasty Warriors franchise from Koei pre-dated Capcom’s Sengoku Basara series by 8 years, but the case has nothing to do with the games’ design and aesthetics, but with a couple of features:

According to Capcom’s claim, Koei Tecmo infringed on their patents regarding “new content that can be acquired through the use of a previous game and new software” as well as “a controller-vibrating feature when the enemies are nearby,” both of which are said to be patented by Capcom and used in Koei Tecmo’s series.
