Adventure Time: Season 4 Double Episode Review
Adventure Time for this week treated us to a 2-Episode Feature. The first episode, “Return to the Nightosphere”, is the fifth episode in season four of Adventure Time.
The second episode, “Daddy’s Little Monster”, is the sixth episode in season four of Adventure Time.
In “Return to the Nightosphere”, the episode starts with Finn and Jake waking up in a pile of bananas in a cage and they don’t remember how they got there. Jake tries to call Beemo on his new camera phone, then sees that he had made a video. Jake plays a video of a portal that Finn and Jake took, but a portal to where? They find out from a Jail Guard that they are in the Nightosphere and after asking how they can get home, he explains they can’t leave the Nightosphere, unless “he” allows you.
“He” is Hunson Abadeer. Jake keeps looking for an outlet to charge his phone, but he can’t find one. Then Jake and Finn, along with other demons, are set free because they cannot leave anyway, and the Guard just doesn’t care anymore. Using Jake’s extendable legs, they climb up through a hole and look around to get a good view of the Nightosphere. They ask for help from a transportation Demon who tells them to climb into him and he will carry them to the “teller”.
After being dropped off at a river full of demons, a traveler explains to them they have to wait in line to see the “teller”. After thirteen days and eight hours waiting for their turn to see the “teller”, they finally get to the front of the line.
The guy at the door gives them a ticket for #42,000,000. The number on the door is 41,999,999, which means they are next. When it is finally their turn, they have to make another long line once again. Finn loses it, and almost gives up, but Jake snaps him out of it.
In that moment, Abadeer appears in a mist and starts killing all the demons that were there to ask him questions, so Jake and Finn hide behind a rock. Jake helps them strech up into a cave where Abadeer was hiding. Finn begins to fight Abadeer with his sword. They barely escape, and follow Abadeer to his castle. There, they fight their way back to the portal.
They get into it and Abadeer follows them. Finn fights Abadeer and cuts his head open, which reveals that Abadeer was really Marceline. When they get back to the treehouse, Marceline closes the portal and tells them to never come back. Finn thinks Marceline is in trouble, and wants to help her.
As the second episode, “Daddy’s Little Monster”, continues our story, the episode begins with Beemo charging Jake’s phone. The phone is finally charged and Finn and Jake watch the video of them in the Nightosphere. There are 3 videos. The first video shows Finn and Jake going into the Nightosphere to hang out with Marceline, who had invited them in the first place. The next video loads, and shows they are playing music when suddenly, Marceline’s Dad comes in and tells Marceline he wants her to take over the Family business and rule the Nightosphere with his evil Amulet that can grant your most evil wishes.
Marceline refuses, claiming she has her own plans for life, but she does put it on to try it out and accidentally turns herself into an evil monster. Then the video blacks out and a third video comes on explaining how Finn and Jake got thrown in their Jail cell by The Nightosphere jailer.
They decide to return to the Nightosphere to save Marceline, through the help of a spell Finn remembers (Marceline used to summon her father) that opens up a hole to Nightosphere from the treehouse. After disguising themselves, they go into the Nightosphere, and find themselves trapped in yet another line, but this one to see Marceline, who is playing cruel tricks on the demons of the Nightosphere. They are discovered by Marceline when they try to cut the line, and they barely escape after Marceline tries to eat them.
They run into a house and find the Lord of Evil making a sandwich. He explains to them that he only wanted Marceline to follow his footsteps and that he thinks it is great she has been possessed by the Amulet. Finn gets angry, slaps The Lord of Evil’s sandwich out of his hand and goes back to rescue Marceline.
Finn and Jake decide they need a way to get close to Marceline. So, to zap the apathy from the Demons, they start singing a freestyle political rap.
Soon, other demons join them in the revolution and help them. They reach Marceline and finally get to take off the Amulet that was controlling her. However, Jake isn’t able to go back to the portal they created before as the demons don’t let him move. So Finn puts on the Amulet and pushes Jake and Marceline out of the Nightosphere. Unfortunately, under the control of the Amulet, he tries to get Jake and Marceline back to the Nightosphere as he has become evil. However, the Lord of Evil rips the Amulet off of Finn and puts it back on. He explains to Marceline that he is proud of her no matter what she does, and that he likes her friends. Then, the Nightosphere closes. Marceline says she won’t hang out with Finn or Jake anymore. The episode ends as Finn is shivering after having been under the control of the Amulet, ignoring what Marceline is saying. Oh, and the bananas? They were like ear wax pulled out of a demon’s ear. Suddenly, Jake loses his appetite.
