Why I miss 4Kids Entertainment, and the problems with Saban’s Vortexx

toonzaki

Thankfully, Toonbarn has done well to show what has happened to Toonzai/Toonzaki and so on. However, here is a point people tend to forget: 4kids was different from the other kids’ companies that existed during and after the last 10 or so years. You have to realize the type of marketplace that existed when the company was at its peak and when it passed on. The problem with people’s recollection of the history of 4Kids is that it doesn’t tell the whole story about why 4Kids did what it did and what it could have done better.

This comes as a bit of a surprise. World Wrestling Entertainment and Warner Brothers are planning to do a movie using several WWE “Superstars” and the Flintstones. John Cenastone (a Play on CornerStone, based on John Cena), CM Punkrock (CM Punk) and Vince McMagma (you can guess who this guy is) will be in the animated production as Voice Actors. This is the second movie using the Brand Superstars, Scooby Doo’s version with the WWE, is still in production.

SheZow: Controversy Overblown?

He’s here.

Better yet, she is here.

SheZow is an animated series from Australia that has already aired several episodes internationally. It’s now found a home on the recently renamed Hub Network (from The Hub).

Our main character, one Guy Hamdon, is more into guy stuff, and the stronger the better. But he finds a ring from his aunt who has passed away. This, thinking its his uncles (as a sort of a keepsake) would give him powers.

Turns out it gives him powers all right. Its turns him into a female superhero. The aforementioned SheZow.
