Avatar Legend of Korra’s The Aftermath Gets Top Spot for The Week
Nickelodeon’s latest addition to the Avatar franchise is a bonafide hit, as proven by the numbers it managed to pull last Saturday, May 19, during the showing of the episode titled “The Aftermath”, which deals with the increased tension brought about by an ally that Korra suspects to be working for the Equalists.
Avatar: The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after Avatar: The Last Airbender and follows the next Avatar– a girl named Korra who is from the Southern Water Tribe. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water and Fire), Korra is on a quest to master Air. Her quest leads her to Republic City, the modern “Avatar” world that is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. Korra soon discovers that the city is beset by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip the city apart. Under the tutelage of Aang’s son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.
The episode “The Aftermath” managed to top its time period, garnering 1.3 million viewers in the K2-11, 848,000 in the K6-11, and 859,000 in the Tweens demo, for a total of 3.5 million viewers. The program bested its direct competition by double digits, and the only show that managed to pull in bigger numbers was another Nick show, Victorious.
