Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to Be Cancelled?
According to a recent IGN TV report, there are rumors going around that Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is in danger of landing on the network chopping block. While Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb has already confirmed that they still have ongoing plans for The Avengers in animation, he was not specifically talking about EMH.
EMH writer/producers Joshua Fine and Chris Yost were unable to confirm the third season of the series in a recent Comicbookmovie.com interview:
“I can’t really answer that question as I don’t know what conversations have happened there, in the year since I left Marvel,” says Fine while Yost replied, “I am not involved in such decisions. I just write.”
The rumors may seem odd, considering the success of the Avengers movie, but it is also that same success that lends more credibility to the rumor. It is worth noting that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was already under production even before the movie, and is not set in the same continuity. It is perfectly logical to assume that Marvel and Disney may come out with a new Avengers cartoon that would be set in the Avengers movie continuity, in order to unify all of their cartoon franchises.
