Disney XD Cancels Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes
The rumor has been floating around for months now, but a report has recently surfaced confirming that Disney XD’s Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has been cancelled. Avengers: EMH’s second season debuted last April 1 as part of Disney XD’s new Marvel Universe programming block, but according to the Marvel TV News Site, Marvel has sent out a press release announcing that the series won’t be renewed for the 3rd season.
It does not mean that it’s the last you’ll see of The Avengers, though – as the press release also announces the premiere of Marvel Animation’s newest developed series titled “Avengers Assemble” in 2013. As the former rumors suggest, this may be an effort on Marvel’s part to unify their brands into a single coherent continuity, similar to what they did in the movies. There is a possibility that Avengers Assemble will reflect the lineup in the film, which in turn is modeled on the Ultimates comic book line up. Avengers EMH’s line up on the other hand, was modeled after the Earth 616 comic book.
