Cartoon Network to Release New Batman Toon: Beware the Batman
Continuing their partnership with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network is prepping the release of a new half-hour action-adventure series based on the world’s greatest detective, Beware the Batman.
Beware the Batman is a different take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, with the show featuring Batman’s core characters facing off against a rogue gallery of new villains that have never been seen in animated form before. Other changes include Alfred playing a more active role and using his experience as a former secret agent, and a new female ally in the form of the lethal swordswoman, Katana.
Some of the villains who are said to be making their animated debut include Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad, and Magpie. The show will feature cutting-edge CGI visuals, and will be included in Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block in summer 2013.
It should be noted that Beware the Batman has been announced before and would have come out last year but the studio pulled it back, citing changes that need to be made as a reason (although some fans believe that the timing of the announcement, which was made after the shooting incident during The Dark Knight Rises’s screening, suggests that the studio doesn’t want the gun-related elements in the show to be connected to the incident)
