DC Showcase Jonah Hex featured on Batman: Under the Red Hood

He may be a few hundred years old by today’s calendar, but 2010 was definitely a big year for Jonah Hex. He made his big screen debut earlier this summer, and later made his digital debut with an iTunes motion comic. Now, fans lucky enough to get their hands on Warner Premiere’s latest animated DVD, Batman: Under the Red Hood, will be treated to a special extra; DC Showcase Jonah Hex. While the motion comic brought comic book panels to life via Flash animation, the DC Showcase is a brand new, 10+ minute animated adventure starring the scarred cowboy. Written by Joe R. Lansdale, the animated feature stars the movie’s Thomas Jane as Jonah Hex, Linda Hamilton as Madame Lorraine, and Michael Rooker as Red Doc. Take a look at the feature in action

In the DC Showcase story, the tough-as-nails bounty hunter Jonah Hex always gets his man – until someone else gets to him first – in this case a murderous madam who wants to steal more than just her bounty from Jonah Hex. Red Doc, a man that claims he can take on anyone and anything, arrives in town looking for more booze and more actions. Madame Lorraine spots him, and after inviting him upstairs, kills him and has two of her henchmen dispose of the body. Sounds like a job for the vigilante cowboy, Jonah Hex! As Jonah arrives in town, he’s already on a case: looking to pick up a $5000 bounty on Red. When he learns that the bounty is squandered due to Madame Lorraine’s actions, a new adventure unfolds.

“Batman: Under the Red Hood,” the next entry in the popular ongoing series of DC UNIVERSE Animated Original PG-13 Movies, arrives July 27, 2010 from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. The full-length film will be distributed by Warner Home Video.
