When the DC/Warner camp first announced the release date of their upcoming Batman vs. Superman film as May 6, 2015, many fans criticized the move and labeled it as a dumb one. The reason being that said release date will put the Man of Steel sequel in direct competition with Marvel’s 3rd Captain America film and possibly face fallout from Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is scheduled for May 1, 2015.
However, it seems like Warner is not willing to back down and confident that Batman vs. Superman’s ticket sales won’t suffer from going toe to toe with two of Marvel’s main offerings, both of which have already proven their pull at the box office.
“It doesn’t make a lot of sense for two huge superhero films to open on the same date but there is a lot of time between now and then,” says Warner’s president of domestic distribution, Dan Fellman.
“However,” he continues, “at this time, we are not considering a change of date for Batman vs Superman.”
