One obvious highlight of Disney’s 2011 D23 Expo, in addition to all the regular House of Mouse awesomeness, was the almost-secret screening of La Luna, the Enrico Casarosa CG animated short from Pixar. Readying itself for a big screen debut in front of next summer’s Brave, La Luna follows a long line of beautiful Pixar shorts, from Jack Jack Attack, to Burn-E, to Mike’s New Car, Hawaiian Vacation, Presto, Boundin, and so many more; each typically featured in a spot before one of Pixar’s big films. The 4 minute tale focuses on a young boy, who reveres his father and grandfather, following in their footsteps where possible. Not in a big, adventurous way, or a grand story with many cinematic plotpoints… just a simple, brief, and beautiful tale. Take a look at a sneak peek clip, then get ready for the full deal, with Brave.
