Alpha goes omega on Cannonbolt, XLR8, and crossovers
Ben, meet Rex. Rex, meet Ben. For the past few months, we’ve been really digging into what would happen if these two ever met – and for the past few weeks, we’ve started to see images and video of what will happen when they do. From what we can tell, we know there’s going to be a misunderstanding. We know that they’re going to battle it out, to see which one of them would win in a fight. What we haven’t really understood yet is, what they’re going to do once the fighting between the two Man of Action, Cartoon Network super stars is complete. In other words, who is the villain (or villains) that they’ll be faced up against? Who, really, is powerful enough to battle not just Ben 10, but Generator Rex and the Agents of Providence? How about this creepy guy, named Alpha!
While its still a little early to tell (and, by a little early, we mean just a few hours before the November 25th, 7pm deadline when Cartoon Network finally unveils Ben 10 / Generator Rex: Heroes United) Alpha appears to be some … well, crazy powerful being. One half alien form, one half nanite controller – Alpha seems somewhat like the perfect enemy for the combined forces of Ben 10 and Generator Rex.
That’s right, we’ve got yet another Ben 10 alien form joining in the Heroes United, Cannonbolt! An Arburian Pelarota from the planet Arburia, Cannonbolt harkens back to the original Ben 10 series. Though we got to see an updated Ultimate Cannonbolt in Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Ben once again goes with the less-than-Ultimate form in the Heroes United special. The huge, broad-shouldered alien has natural armor plating and can curl into a ball like an armadillo to form quite a powerful cannon ball type weapon, becoming virtually invulnerable. If Cannonbolt was not getting it done, how about XLR8? ANOTHER alien form Ben is bringing to the game! Ben 10’s appearance in the Generator Rex special is quickly becoming an Alien Index! A ply on the word “accelerate”, XLR8 is a Kinecceleran, who looks somewhat like a velociraptor dinosaur. With wheel-like feet, scissor claws, and a streamlined helmet-shaped head, this form can reach speeds of 2 and 300 miles per hour in an instant – just like the Justice League’s Flash.
