Animated Star Wars Comedy from Robot Chicken Creators in the Works

According to a recent report by Shadowlocked, cult favorite co-creator of the Robot Chicken series and former Buffy cast member Seth Green has had two Star Wars comedic spin offs commissioned by Adult Swim and endorsed by George Lucas (!!!) himself. And no, we’re not talking about the Robot Chicken: Star Wars special – the upcoming spin off is a 40 minute long episode to be shown in its own right and is set on the same (fictional) reality where the canon Star Wars films happened.

It was said that Lucas’ endorsement came from having overseen the latest release of the Robot Chicken Star Wars special, which led to the Sci-Fi magnate developing an admiration for Seth Green and co-creator Matthew Seinreich’s passion towards his multi-billion dollar franchise.

“Yes, rumours are true, we are working on a Star Wars animated comedy series; and yes, Seth Green has been chosen to front the upcoming series. For a while we’ve been keen to bring the Star Wars franchise to a third generation of fans, and the use of animation and 3D will allow us to do this whilst keeping the brand fresh”, Lucas Licensing president Howard Roffman states in a recent Brand Licensing Europe 2011. When asked about a release date, Roffman said the scheduled release “remained uncertain”, but fans should expect to see the series premiere “within the next two years” – words lost; excitement too much; coherent sentences…failing.
