Classic Cartoon Network Shows Participate in Crossover Comic Event

If you think Marvel and DC’s respective heroes have the monopoly on intra-company crossovers, you’d better think again, because some of Cartoon Network’s classic characters will be featured in a new IDW comic book series titled Super Secret Crisis War!

In case you’re not familiar with tights and spandex superheroics, Super Secret Crisis War pokes fun (at the very least, its title does) at several of DC and Marvel’s large-scale crossover events, the titles of which have used the words Secret, Crisis, and War at some point.

Super Secret Crisis War will consist of six issues, and will feature the characters from Samurai Jack, Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory and Ed, Edd & Eddy banding together in order to fighter their respective enemies Aku, Vilgax, Mandark and Mojo Jojo. The first issue is scheduled for release in June.

“I love writing group books! So obviously, Super Secret Crisis War! is my dream job!” says Simonson, whose career in comics includes long stints writing X-Factor, The New Mutants, Superman: The Man of Steel and co-creating and writing the 1980s Marvel fan favorite Power Pack. “Even researching the series is fun — who doesn’t love watching cartoons!?”
