Samurai Jack is Back, with Beard
One of the lost gems of our childhood, and considered as one of the shining gems of Cartoon Network’s glory days, Samurai Jack is finally returning via Adult Swim’s Toonami block on March 11 at 11 PM ET. It has been a long time since the original series’ open-ended conclusion – it took 12 and a half years before the time-traveling samurai managed to return to the small screens. And as the trailer below shows, Jack is looking worse for the wear during this long period, having grown a full beard in the process.
Phil LaMarr will be returning to voice Jack, and the story is set some 50 years after the events of the original series. Jack has not aged during the 5 decades in between shows, and he is now struggling with his identity, while at the same time facing against a new set of villains under the shapeshifting demon Aku’s command.
Genndy Tartakovsky will once again helm the project, and it is said that the season will form a cohesive story that will finally provide some much-needed answers to the franchise’s long-enduring mysteries.
