News on the Nickelodeon anime Avatar The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra, with the Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads

Korra: Retrospective – Avatar, The Lost Franchise.

Note: I would like to thank everyone on making my works and everyone else here on Toon Barn great and we here all are wishing you fans of the site a merry Christmas and a Much Better and Happier New Year. I do want to say that even though I haven’t posted much here – That will change in 2015. I’m going to be posting a lot more in 2015 because I feel as though Toon Barn has the right balance that other sites do not have and are not willing to have. I also feel that there has to be a accounting for many of the misconceptions we animation fans face. And in the coming year that will be shown. There is also something new im planning but that has to be discussed. But its something I wanted to do and have an audience for. So watch for it.

Korra should have been truly amazing.

Nickelodeon was going through a misstep with the Avatar franchise. The movie many people believed, was being whitewashed. M. Night Shamalan directorial skills were on the wane, and Nickelodeon were going through some crisis with their live action work and overreliance on  SpongeBob.

So it came as a shock, that Korra arrived and it was going to be something well thought out.

To be fair, I wasn’t a huge fan of Korra and only saw a smattering of episodes – I believed that they missed out on better voice actors. I also wondered why would one continue from what was already – one of the better animated series in recent decades, that wasn’t a sequel?

The Legend of Korra Videogame: Behind the Scenes Featurette

With The Legend of Korra’s swan song fast approaching, us Korra fans need to get as much Korra content as possible in as many mediums and platforms available and thankfully, Platinum Games has developed a third person beat ‘em up game adaptation of the series. In order to give fans a glimpse on what went into the game (as well as tease some of the features like minigames that let you compete in bending matches,) the official Playstation Youtube channel has posted a Behind the Scenes featurette. You can watch the video below:

Legend of Korra Returns in October for Book Four

Legend of Korra is one of those rare animated franchises that had a massive and loyal fanbase but still fell short of the network’s expectations ratings-wise because it was saddled with an inconsistent airing schedule that was made worse by the lack of announcements over said changes. Thankfully, unlike Motorcity, the Legend of Korra wasn’t cancelled unceremoniously and was allowed to finish its third season via Nick.com and the Nickelodeon app.

…and it turns out things aren’t so bad for us fans who want to see things through the end. At the very least, we’re not going to be left hanging as Legend of Korra will be returning to Nick.com and the Nick App on October 3rd for its fourth and final season. Fans Can Select Cover Art for Legend of Korra Game

Yesterday, we posted a blog entry about an upcoming action game based on The Legend of Korra franchise, which is being developed by Platinum Games and published by Activision. Now, Activision and Nickelodeon have jointly announced additional details about the game, particularly a new contest that will let fans join in on the creative process.

Platinum Games Working on The Legend of Korra Game

If you’re a fan of The Legend of Korra and you think tomorrow’s debut of Book 3 is the only good news, you’ll be pleasantly surprised because it’s been announced that a video game is in the works, with Platinum Games in charge of development. If you’re not familiar with Platinum games, they’re the developer responsible for the quirky action game Bayonetta, so you can rest assured that The Legend of Korra’s martial arts and fantasy elements will be done justice in the game.
