Kung Fu Panda 3 Release Scheduled for an Earlier Date

According to a recent announcement, DreamWorks Animation is once again reshuffling its scheduled release date for the franchise sequel Kung Fu Panda 3. From its previously announced March 18, 2016 slot, fans will now be able to watch Po and his hilarious antics a few months earlier on January 29, 2016. This is not the first time the release date was changed, as the original announced premiere was December 18, 2016, but DWA moved it earlier in order to avoid competing with the box office juggernaut that is Star Wars (via the Force Awakens.)

Kung Fu Panda 3 Backs Down From Star Wars: The Force Awakens

DreamWorks Animation and partner 20th Century Fox have recently pushed back the release date for Kung Fu Panda 3, changing its schedule from December 23, 2015 to March 18, 2016. Not that anybody will be surprised, but the reason for the delay is Fox not wanting to compete for the box office against the juggernaut that is J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opens on December 18, 2015.

Saban Brands to Represent DreamWorks Properties in Israel

Saban Brands Israel has recently signed on to represent DreamWorks Animation properties in Israel, covering merchandise, retail, and publishing. The deal covers the properties based on the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon 2, along with Penguins of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and Dragons: Riders of Berk.

DirecTV drops Nickelodeon, 14 other channels

If you turned on your TV this morning and saw that Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, MTV, Nicktoons was gone, then you are not alone. Late Tuesday night Viacom pulled off Nickelodeon and 14 other channels from the 20 Million or so DirecTV subscribers. DirecTV subscribers lost 14+ channels owned by Viacom in a dispute to pay the channels DirecTV was brodcasting.  Viacom sent letters to DirecTV on Tuesday ordering them to remove the channels by midnight or face legal action.

Australia will finally get a chance to watch Po and his ragtag group of kung-fu animals during their original broadcast dates as Nickelodeon Australia opens its Kick Butt Week with the premiere of the Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness CG animated series. Co-produced by Dreamworks Animation SKG and Nickelodeon, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness is based on the Kung Fu Panda Movie and features all the memorable characters (albeit only Viper and Mr. Ping will have their original voice actors, namely Lucy Liu and James Hong). The new episodes will start airing on Monday, February 20 at 4:30PM onwards.

Just a few days back on November 7th, Nickelodeon kicked off with the very first episode of Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. So, how has the DreamWorks Animation franchise done for the Nick? Apparently, pretty darn awesome! The toon’s premiere has kicked off a series of record high ratings for Nickelodeon, setting itself up for quite a long future. Along with already uber succesful series like SpongeBob SquarePants, Nick is in a great spot right now, as far as ratings and viewers are concerned. Finally, after all the waiting, Nickelodeon will premiere the brand new Kung Fu Panda series on Monday November 7th at 5:30pm. The CG DreamWorks Animation toon, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, follows Po, Viper, Mr. Ping and others from the Kung Fu Panda franchise in regular series-based adventures, where the Dragon Warrior teams with the Furious Five to defend the Valley of Peace from various threats. t’s like having a Po all of your own!! In the episode, Sticky Situation, Po accidentally destroys the training hall. Yeah, sounds about right! To make up for his mistake, he looks for the hall’s original builder, entirely unaware that the inventor is an old enemy of Shifu’s. It’s like we’ve never left you!!

Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness on Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon will premiere a new CG animated series based on the adventures of the legendary Po in Kung fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness on Monday, November 7 at 5:30pm. Co-produced with Dreamworks Animation SKG, the CG animated series will air new episodes all week after new episodes of Spongebob Squarepants at 5pm. Based on the Kung Fu Panda movie franchise, Legends of Awesomeness will feature the voice talents of Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill) and James Hong (Big Trouble in Little China) reprising their roles in the movie, as Viper and Mr. Ping.
