This coming August 27, The Walt Disney Studios will be honoring one of the classic children’s properties that continue to inspire and entertain these days, via the Blu-Ray and HD Digital release of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The releases will come with a wide variety of bonus features and enhanced quality that will allow a whole new generation of fans to fall in love with Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood.

The Winnie the Pooh franchise is still alive today, via a globally-popular line of merchandise, as well as the recent CG animated series (not to mention being part of the famous Disney-Square Enix produced videogame series Kingdom Hearts) , but children will now be able to see the original 2D animated series, which has been digitally restored and remastered in high definition in order to provide clarity and fidelity that modern viewers expect.

Walt Disney's The Tigger Movie Available Now on Blu Ray and DVD

Walt Disney Studios has recently brought the magic of the Hundred Acre Wood to life with the Blu Ray and Digital release of The Tigger Movie last Monday, August 21, 2012. The Tigger Movie is a special milestone in A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh franchise as it marks the first Winnie the Pooh movie released through Walt Disney Studios that isn’t just a collection of previously released short. It was The Tigger Movie’s success back in 2000 that led to more feature-length Pooh movies such as Piglet’s Big Movie in 2003 and Pooh’s Heffalump Movie in 2005.

The Tigger Movie follows our favorite bouncing tiger as he goes on a quest to find other tiggers in his family tree. Through a series of exciting adventures, Tigger comes across the realization that a family can come in all shapes and sizes.

Winnie the Pooh brings honey to Disney Blu-ray and DVD on October 25th

Winnie the Pooh brings honey to Disney Blu-ray and DVD on October 25th

Several months ago, when the summer was still new, Disney brought an old favorite back to theaters, with a new Winnie the Pooh adventure. In the past decade, computer animated projects have completely reinvented, and dominated, the field of animation – but Disney bucked that trend with 2011’s Winnie the Pooh, letting the iconic presentation speak for itself and pay tribute to its past. As hope, A.A. Milne’s characters never looked better, from Tigger, to Rabbit, to Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo, Christopher Robin, and most of all, Winnie the Pooh. On October 25th, Disney hopes to duplicate that nostalgic boon, bringing the film home to Blu-ray and DVD Combo Packs. Check out some of the details right here, including the press release and box art

At first thought, you probably wouldn’t think there’s anything similar between lil blue critters, space aliens, old western cowboys, and patriotic super soldiers. And yet, all of them crammed into the top three spots at the box office this weekend. Captain America: The First Avenger took third in the group with $25 million, and the other two films, Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs, each raked in more than $36 million in their premiere weekends. Sure, there was still a Harry Potter and a Transformers in there, but there’s three new bosses on top. Any of this ticket money belong to you?

Captain America: The First Avenger to the box office

Next summer is going to be very crowded with Marvel’s comic book super heroes. When The Avengers film hits theaters, we’ll have Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and a whole slew of other Disney icons ready to battle anything that comes their way. But their story wont be contained just in the single film; rather, we’ve had Nick Fury recruiting the cast for some time now, with some of those folks already appearing in their own films. And now, Cap officially kicks off the saga with the newest Marvel film, Captain America: The First Avenger, which opened in first place this past weekend, with $65 million to it’s name, besting the opening to DC Comics’ Green Lantern movie from a few weeks back, and even topping Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Who joined in to see Captain America on the big screen so far? And who will be heading there this week?

It seems like just a few weeks ago, you couldn’t see any other movie besides Transformers, as the latest sequel, Dark of the Moon, dominated the box office. In fact, that was only a few weeks ago! Now, every screen is all about Harry Potter, as the franchise pumps out the final presentation, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Transformers was big, but HP7 is now on a pace to become the biggest of all time, besting The Dark Knight with the largest opening weekend box office ever.

Roughly 85 years ago, A.A. Milne created the first of many story books starring Winnie the Pooh. Its unlikely anyone at the time thought that nearly 100 years later, fans all over the world would be lining up at theaters to see Winnie’s latest animated adventures up on the big screen. As Disney readies Winnie the Pooh for the movies once more, we finally get to relive all these moments that we had as a kid; whether that was ten years ago, thirty, fifty, or in Milne’s case, 100 or so. Winnie the Pooh is the perfect combination of nostalgia and new adventure, and that’s exactly the spirit the upcoming film, which launches tomorrow July 15th, embodies.
