From all the people we have spoken to at San Diego Comic-Con, particularly those involved in the animation industry, the most popular name on everyone’s lips is Andrea Romano. When a voice actor has someone to thank, it’s the “brilliant” Casting and Voice Director, Andrea Romano. When it comes to the amount of praise that is bestowed upon any one person, Andrea Romano receives the most. She didn’t pay these people to say these things, and she doesn’t ever ask for praise. She is simply the most genuine, most respected, most gifted Voice Director that the industry has ever seen. I want to work for her, simply to watch her work her magic, and I am far from being a voice actor. Yes, my friends, she is THAT good.
She was part of the team that won Daytime Emmys 6 years in a row, from 1996-2001, for Animaniacs, The New Batman Adventures, Pinky and the Brain, and Batman Beyond. She is responsible for bringing together the best Batman/Joker tandem in history, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. She continues to work on some of the best animated shows and movies today, like Beware the Batman and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.
In our interview with Andrea Romano, before the screening and panel for Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox at San Diego Comic-Con, she tells us what it was like to work with Kevin Conroy again. Andrea also tells us how she manages veteran voice actors with rookies, all on a cast where the characters aren’t exactly in character. It was tough, but every actor was comfortable working for Andrea Romano.
We want to thank Andrea Romano for spending time with us at San Diego Comic-Con. We only wish we had more time. We also need to thank Gary Miereanu and Warner Bros Home Entertainment for the interviews, panel and screening for Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, now available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
