Beauty and the Beast to be reimagined for ABC
The ABC network, a subsidiary of Disney, has purchased a one-hour drama pilot based on the Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast”. Seeing as the film was just re-released in 3D onJanuary 13th, now is the perfect time to get the ball rolling on a new version of the tale. Reports state that the pilot will be “A fantastical reimagining of the classic fairy tale set in a mythical, dangerous world wherein a beautiful and tough Princess discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast.”
The show will be written by Jon Steinberg and produced by Mojo Films.
Oddly enough, a completely different “Beauty and the Beast” series was just ordered by the CW network, based on a Ron Perlman/Linda Hamilton series from the 1980’s.
