Cost Cutting Measures Lead to Layoffs at DisneyToon Studios
According to a recent Variety report, a new round of cost-cutting measures over at the Walt Disney Co. has lead to layoffs affecting DisneyToon Studios. Out of the 60 people employed by the Glendale, CA-based division of Walt Disney Animation Studios, 16 are reportedly affected.
The staff were told of the layoffs a week ago, with Disney eliminating positions at most of its divisions as a way of reducing overhead. The cost cutting campaign started last 2013 and is still ongoing.
DisneyToon studios is responsible for a total of 47 films, starting with DuckTales: The Movie Treasure of the Lost Lamp in 1990.
