In less than a week, Disney and Pixar will team together to release a third film in the Toy Story franchise, hitting audiences on June 18th in 3D. Lee Unkrich, director of Toy Story 3, notes that even though it’s been almost 15 years since Toy Story 2, he and Pixar CEO John Lasseter wanted to create a third film immediately. Originally, the plan was to just throw another adventure at the toys; Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, Mr. Potato Head, Rex, Slinky Dog, and the rest. But as the years went by, the story and ideas evolved; the real-world time delay fit in perfectly with the story-world. Andy, just like us in the audience, had grown up. And if the first two movies in the CG franchise are any indicator, there will be a whole world of emotional and powerful cinema to support that concept. I’ll be there day one to see! Anyone else?
