Elena of Avalor is proving to be yet another of Disney’s good decisions, as the series enjoys a healthy following among its target audience (namely girls age 2-11), and so it comes as no surprise that the Disney Channel has ordered a third season of the series.
The third season order comes ahead of the 2nd season airing, which has been scheduled to premiere this fall on both Disney Channel and Disney Junior. The series was created and executive produced by Emmy Award-winner Craig Gerber, and features a brave and adventurous teenager who rulers her kingdom as the crown princess, Elena.
“With this new season order, the creative team, led by Craig Gerber and Silvia Olivas, has some exciting surprises in store for Elena on her journey to becoming queen,” said Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President, Content & Creative Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide and General Manager, Disney Junior Worldwide, in making the announcement. “We’re looking forward to having our young viewers follow along on Elena’s adventure, while also continuing to build the Elena of Avalor experience for them beyond the screen.”
Aside from the new season, Elena of Avalor also shows a strong performance on the L & M side, with a line of dolls form the Disney Store and Hasbro selling more than a million and an Elena of Avalor costume turning out to be the #1 costume at the Disney Store for both Halloween and Holiday last year. A bunch of new toys are also coming, including a Palace of Avalor playset from Hasbro and new dolls and roleplay items from Jakks Pacific.
