Disney Junior will introduce movie magic to new cinephiles in a highly animated way with the premiere of its newest short-form series entitled Lights, Camera, Lexi. The 1st five shorts will be aired on Monday, November 21 on the Disney Junior App and on Disney Channel throughout that week.
Lights, Camera, Lexi features Lexi Lopez, the enthusiastic kid filmmaker who, in every episode presents the young viewers with a different movie genre and animation technique, from silent movie to sci-fi. Every instalment highlights an original short, created by a different animation artist/director pulled from different backgrounds – from animation teacher Beck Underwood (Lower East Side Girls Club), to recent CalArts grad Nak Yong Choi, to children’s book illustrator Barbara Bakos from Budapest.
The Disney Junior App will also have a same-day debut of Lexi’s Movie Maker, which is a digital experience that lets young viewers to create their own animated mini-movies by using voice-over, music, backgrounds and props.
The first season of Lights, Camera, Lexi will feature confirmed shorts: STARSHIP NINE: The Ornite Mission (Beck Underwood), Kiwi’s First Flight (Heather Fortin), Spaghetti Western (Melissa Shepherd), The Great Pecan Pie Mystery (Barbara Bakos), The Little Janitor (Tom Smith), A Lobster to Remember (Jeremy Jensen), Bug the Superheroes (Nak Yong Choi) and The New Werewolf on the Block (Chris Hamilton).
