According to The Hollywood Reporter, The House of Mouse has just changed the release date of their upcoming Ant Man movie project from November 6, 2015 to July 31, 2015, which means Marvel fans who’ve been waiting for the new comic book adaptation will get to see it much sooner.
The Ant Man feature will be directed by Edgar Wright and will focus on the Marvel character Henry Pym, who is a brilliant scientist that invented a way to change size. However, a hitch in his experiments results in an unexpected ability to communicate with insects.
It’s understandable that Disney wants to avoid the November release date, as that will put Ant Man in direct competition with the next Bond film, which will see the reunion of director Sam Mendes and star Daniel Craig. The duo’s last pairing, Skyfall, brought in more than $1 billion worldwide, which can be daunting given that Ant Man has not yet proven its mettle in the box office.
The new July 2015 release date, on the other hand, only puts them in competition with another film – Peregrine’s Home for Peculiars.
