Marvel Nabs Star Wars License from Dark Horse
According to a recent report by Variety, comic book publisher Dark Horse has recently lost the license to the Star Wars property, which it has held for more than 2 decades. And the new owners aren’t surprising: Marvel, which is currently owned by Disney, which in turn owns LucasFilm.
Marvel will take over the sci-fi franchise starting in 2015, which should still give Dark Horse enough time to wrap up ongoing storylines in the books they are publishing based on the Star Wars franchise.
It’s also worth noting that Marvel is no stranger to Star Wars comics, as it has published the first line of Star Wars comic books based on the original trilogy back in 1977, with their most successful title being Star Wars #1, which managed to sell more than a million copies.
