FUNimation has revealed that the latest anime movie from the Dragon Ball franchise, Battle of Gods, will be coming to North America. This time around, it’s not just through home video (as is FUNimation’s M.O.,) but also through a special event screening planned for August 5 to 9. You can check out the video below for the official announcement (the video is only available to specific regions, sorry):
For the uninitiated, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is an anime film that is part of the canon, with the events taking place between chapters 517 and 518 (the film technically negates certain parts of Dragon Ball GT, which is a good thing as the series is frowned upon by many fans.) The film focuses on the God of Destruction, Beerus, who has awoken after finding out that Freeza has been slain by Son Goku. Along with his companion Whis, he seeks out the Super Saiyan in an effort to find an opponent worthy of his power.
