Dragonball Heroes: Ultimate Mission for the 3DS Scheduled for 2013
The Japanese release date for the upcoming 3DS card-based fighting game Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission has been announced as February 28, 2013. The game will mark the first time the popular Dragon Ball cardass games, which used to be limited to arcades, will be ported to a handheld device (it should be noted that the a large number of the Dragon Ball cardass games were ports of the PS2 fighters, with card-based mechanics added.)
The cardass arcade games were fighting games that used actual cards and scanners for fighting instead of direct joystick commands. The 3DS port of the Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission will have virtual cards, but the first printings of the game will come packaged with physical limited edition cards. It’s not yet clear on whether the physical cards will be usable (the 3DS camera definitely makes it feasible, hardware wise).
