Fan Group Creates Live Action Trailer for Dragon Ball Z’s History of Trunks
Fan Group Robot Underdog is planning to create a live-action adaptation of Dragon Ball Z in a way that will stay true to the source material, while giving fans an idea on what Akira Toriyama’s long-running anime and manga franchise will look like as a proper live-action film. They’re starting with an adaptation of The History of Trunks, and have released a teaser trailer featuring Future Son Gohan, Future Trunks, and their timeline’s version of Android 17 and 18.
One thing you’ll see from the trailer, besides the decent special effects and martial arts choreography (remember that this is a small studio and the project is not for profit), is that they managed to show what the characters would look like as real people without looking goofy (unlike other fanmade live action adaptations.) Future Gohan is easily recognizable, and he’s wearing his orange gi, but you won’t find any ridiculously stiff hair in the video. The androids also look really good and believable, without straying too far away from the original versions.
