Bandai Namco has released another character-focused trailer for the upcoming 2.5D fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ, and this time around it’s all about Android 18, who is featured here in her time as a villain, which means Android 17 is also around, but only as an assist character for some of her attacks (it is not featured in the trailer, but other footages have shown Android 17 being replaced by Krillin as Android 18’s assist partner in one of her palette swaps.)
For the uninitiated, Dragon Ball FighterZ is notable for its use of developer Arc System Works’ innovative Unreal 3/4 –based engine and some clever tricks with animation in order to simulate 2D cel-shaded anime. The approach has been used to great effect in Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear XrD franchise.
Dragon Ball FighterZ hits PS4, Xbox One, and PC in the west on January 26, 2018. Pre-orders are now open, so get in while the getting’s hot.
