Despite the ending (won’t spoil anything, but it’s pretty much a cop-off), the latest Dragon Ball Z anime movie, Battle of Gods, still managed to do well in terms of profit and fan reception, probably owing to the fact that Toriyama has had a more active input and it effectively retconned a large part of the universally maligned GT away. So it’s not surprising that they are willing to give it another go, with the September issue of V Jump announcing that a new Dragon Ball Z anime movie is slated to debut in the 2015 Golden Week block of spring holidays (April 29 to May 5).
The new movie will still have series creator Akira Toriyama having a more active role, as he is developing the concept, script, and characters. It is said that he is going for a more humorous story that will be inserted at some point in the run of the manga. The magazine also pointed out that Toriyama’s script was praised by editor Kazuhiko Torishima, who is known to be difficult to impress.
