Preview of FUNimation's Dragon Ball Z Blu-Ray Release

This coming December 31, 2013, FUNimation will be releasing a new Dragon Ball Z Blu-Ray collection. Some of you will remember that the distributor has already tried to release the series on Blu-Ray a couple of years ago, but had to cancel after encountering problems with reframing of the series from its native full screen to widescreen.

Their latest attempt seems to be successful as the collection is finally being released in three sets, with the episode count for each release matching the original DVD releases. The release will also have remastered audio tracks and a video that features a more vibrant color palette. You can check out the comparison video below:

“We want Dragon Ball Z to be a part of the HD experience,” said Gen Fukunaga, FUNimation CEO and president. “We want people to see how much time and care has been taken to give them something similar to what is being animated today.”
