Namco Bandai has just released a brand new promo video for their upcoming 3D fighter Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, which is based on Akira Toriyama’s world-famous manga and anime franchise. The promo video is a little bit on the short side, but it manages to show off a lot of really cool stuff (including 4 different permutations of Son Goku), and various team up attacks as well as Oozaru (Greate Ape) Vegeta in action.
If you’ve already played the hell out of the Budokai Tenkaichi series of Dragonball games, you’ll know what to expect from Battle of Z as far as gameplay is concerned. But there are a few notable additions outside of the graphical updates. First is the ability to support 8 players, which means four on four rumbles between planet-busting fighters. Next is the updated roster, which now includes characters and new transformations present in the most recent movie, Battle of Gods. This time you can fight as the god of destruction Bills, or as Goku’s Super Saiyan God form. The giant characters (like Hirudegarn or the Oozarus) are now properly proportioned, so you can have fun as a small character fighting an opponent several stories high.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z will arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on January 23, 2014.
