DreamWorks Planning to Launch a TV Network in Asia
DreamWorks Animation has recently revealed plans to launch a new 24 hour kid and family oriented TV channel across 19 territories in Asia. Said Dreamworks channel will be representing the company’s rich library of content, consisting of existing titles and original exclusive properties. Affiliate sales for the channel will be managed by Singapore-based HBO Asia, alongside marketing and technical services.
The launch of the DreamWorks channel is in line with the company’s expansion into TV production and distribution, marking an important step in their strategy to distribute TV content to as many viewers in a wide swathe of territories. The channel will be backed by more than 2 thousand hours of existing DreamWorks properties and more than 1 thousand half hours of original animation that are currently under production.
DreamWorks Animation estimates the launch of the channel to be the second half of 2015 at the soonest.
