Trolls: The Beat Goes On Netflix series gets first image; TV special dated

While the sequel to DreamWorks’ Trolls movie had its release date moved ahead, 2020 is still a long while away. That’s why the animation company is planning a new Netflix TV series called Trolls: The Beat Goes On. That’s not all, though, as Trolls Holiday is scheduled to run on NBC next month.

Toon Barn is able to share with you the first image for the new Netflix series, which will debut on the streaming service on January 19th, 2018 and a brief synopsis:

Picking up where the film left off, Poppy and all the fun-loving Trolls adjust to living with their Bergen neighbors in this colorful animated series.

The Beat Goes On stars Amanda Leighton, Skylar Astin, and Ron Funches. The 2D animated series will run for fifty-two 11 minute episodes (also distributed at twenty-six 22 minute episodes).

If that’s still too long of a wait for you, make sure you check out NBC’s Trolls Holiday TV special which will premiere Friday, November 24th at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on the network. Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake and Zooey Deschanel return from the movie as the voices of Poppy, Branch and Bridget, respectively. The special was directed by Joel Crawford, and written by Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener, with the original movie’s Gina Shay (who will direct the sequel), Walt Dohrn and Mike Mitchell serving as executive producers and Holly Edwards as producer.

The special will focus on the eternally optimistic Poppy, queen of the Trolls, who learns that the Bergens no longer have any holidays on their calendar. With characteristic enthusiasm, she enlists the help of Branch and the Snack Pack on a mission to fix something that the Bergens don’t think is broken.

Trolls Holiday will be preceded by a soundtrack released globally on October 27th. That’ll feature 7 tracks performed by Poppy, Branch and the rest of the special’s voice cast.

Following its broadcast premiere, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will release the special on DVD and digital on November 28th. The home video release will be packed with special bonus features such as episodes from various DreamWorks TV series, and a limited-time exclusive gift of two sticker sheets inspired by the special. The special will also be available to stream on Netflix starting December 6th.
