Disney's Fish Hooks Mobile App Gets an Update

Disney/ABC Television Group Digital Media’s extremely popular Fish Hooks App for iOS devices has just released a new update featuring crisper and clearer high definition graphics, as well as an expansion pack that includes five additional characters to play with, such as Randy Cunningham, Finberly, Shellsea, Bleak Molly and Jumbo Shrimp.

The new Fish Hooks app also has six new game mechanics and several new power ups, such as the Octopus, which can use his tentacles to swing around a level and Warps, which can be used to transport oneself throughout a level.

This coming April 13 to 15, the Disney Channel will present a special Whodunit Weekend, in which two nights of mystery-centric episodes of its various shows. The first leg of the special will premiere on Friday, April 13 at 8pm, with a new whodunit episode of Jessie, followed by a whodunit episode of A.N.T. Farm, and capped by a mystery-themed episode of Fish Hooks.

The 2nd season of Disney’s imaginative, eye-catching animated hit series Fish Hooks is scheduled for Friday, November 4 on the Disney Channel. Fish Hooks is currently one of the top animated shows for kids aged 6 to 11, and is also popular with tweens from age 9 to 14. More importantly, it’s popular with me!! The second season of Fish Hooks will, as before, revolve around best fish friends Milo, Bea, and Oscar as they deal with the day to day life of a tween fish, as they tackle issues related to friendship, sports, and even dating. Of course, there are the occasional problems like giant lobsters, irritable catfishes that need babysitting, and being tasked with riding a bucking scorpion.

With hits like the Avengers, Kick Buttowski, and Phineas and Ferb, Disney networks are doing A-OK in terms of keeping up with Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and the like. Those are some grade A quality toons right there, and we’re proud to cover them! But one such cartoon seems to have really hit a high note in popularity over the past few months, and now we’re even more enthused with the Disney lineup; Fish Hooks is back to the Disney Channel on November 4th with an all new collection of shows. For quite some time, the summer brothers have owned Disney. Phineas and Ferb have been to Disney what SpongeBob SquarePants is to Nickelodeon; that is, a ratings juggernaut. But then in steps this new comer, Fish Hooks. The quirky 2D animation set against photo realistic backgrounds has clearly caught the attention of fans everywhere, as the numbers show Fish Hooks topping P&F again and again in different demographics. So this obviously begs the most important question ever posed: which do you like better? Phineas and Ferb? Or Fish Hooks?

Disney Channel adds Gravity Falls and Fish Hooks

After an amazingly successful first season of Fish Hooks, Disney made the only logical decision it could regarding the series — it renewed it for a full second season! Disney Channel recently announced that the Disney Television Animation toon will swim along to the channel in the spring of 2012. And Disney didn’t just catch a single show this time, but an additional cartoon called Gravity Falls! The new series follows Dipper and Mabel Pines, a pair of twins spending summer in Gravity Falls, Oregon with their great uncle. It’s there that they discover The Mystery Shack is a little more mysterious than their great uncle let on. Disney keeps the good stuff coming!

In the history of Disney Channel, 2010 is now officially the highest rated year ever, bringing more eyeballs to the network than any other era. The channel averaged over 1.7 million viewers during the span of the entire day, and even beat other other major networks in specific demographics. Disney XD didn’t do too bad itself, pulling in it’s biggest ratings ever – even including the era the channel was known as Toon Disney. Nearly 300,000 folks watched the channel every day, up about 15% from 2009. Are you part of the new ratings boost?
