Play Neon Race 2.0
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for racing games. Partly because Racing games don’t require a lot of time investment, unlike other genres that require you to follow the story, or memorize moves and plan stat upgrades. With a racing game, you just go as fast as you can go without wiping out. Of course, racing games can have some depth too, like upgrades or custom cars, and even vehicular combat, but basically, they let you invest as little or as much time and effort you want in the game.
Neon Race 2.0 is an example of the perfect racing game with a sliding scale of commitments. It’s simple enough that you can just keep on racing without bothering with the police and rival cars, but still allows you to focus on vehicular combat and car upgrades if you want.
The visuals are nice as well, as it uses neon outlines to give the game a stylized look that straddles the line between retro and modern so well. The controls are fairly straightforward, you just use the arrow keys for steering and accelerating, while x gives you turbo. Kudos to the programmer for also mapping the steering to the WSAD keys, for people who are more accustomed to that sort of control scheme.
