Two new rides based on famous CG movie franchises will be made available for theme parks in the following weeks. The first of the rides is Transformers: The Ride3D, which will make its debut at Universal Studios Hollywood on Friday, May 25, 2012 with early park entrance for Memorial Day weekend beginning Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28. Gates will open at 7:30a for early access to Transformers: The Ride3D and the Studio Tour.
The park is based on Michael Bay’s live-action/CG movie trilogy, and actually has input from Bay himself, along with the VFX company Industrial Light and Magic and Universal’s in house theme park ride technology group Universal Creative.
The next ride to make its debut is Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs – The 4-D experience in the San Diego Zoo, which is developed in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment. The ride will be based on the third Ice Age feature film. The ride has already opened in Alton Towers in the UK and Gardaland in Italy. The fourth installment of the film series, Ice Age: Continental Drift, on the other hand, will premiere in theaters in 3-D July 13, 2012.
