Iron Man: Rise of Technovore Scheduled for April

If you’re a fan of Tony Stark and his super duper high tech suit of armor but getting tired of all the updates on the 3rd live action movie (it happens sometimes, you don’t have to turn your fanboy badge in), Sony has something else to tide you over while you let your Robert Downey Jr. appreciation batteries recharge, as the studio is planning to release the Iron Man: Rise of Technovore anime on Blu Ray and DVD this coming April 16, 2013.

Iron Man: Rise of Technovore is directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki (Shigurui, TEXHNOLYZE), with the story written by Brandon Auman (The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!, Iron Man: Armored Adventures). The film focuses on a confrontation between Iron Man and Ezekiel Stane, who developed a new bio technology that can outclass the Iron Man armor. Stane then unleashes a terrorist attack and sets Stark up to take the blame, which gets Iron Man hunted down by S.H.I.E.L.D. and other heroes.

“Iron Man is a natural fit for anime,” said Megan Thomas Bradner, producer of the film. “It’s a medium that’s comfortable with telling more mature stories. There’s a breadth and depth to both the storytelling and characters, and though [he] works great in our kid-targeted animation, there’s a whole universe of stories out there. It’s [also] nice not having to limit ourselves. That, and it’s always exciting to see the beautiful spin Madhouse gives things.”
