TELETOON adds MAD animated series to its Primetime Lineup
This coming holiday season, TELETOON will spice up its already hot programming lineup by picking up the MAD animated series. The animated show is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and is based on the long-running humor magazine of the same name, which was published by DC Comics. Back when print media started feeling the effects of the burgeoning popularity of the Internet, many magazines – particularly those related to Entertainment – have started looking for other venues. Cracked has become a powerhouse on the Internet, and many comic book companies have sought digital distribution.
MAD, on the other hand, tried broadcast TV – s a live action sketch comedy show in the same vein as Saturday Night Live, which fared for a while but was eventually cancelled, and the other one picked up by TELETOON – a 15 minute animated sketch comedy series.
MAD animated series will feature Alfred E. Neuman, Spy vs Spy, and other classic MADicons as they make fun of movies, TV shows, and other pop culture topics and current events. The show is set to start airing on December 5 at 8 PM ET/PT.
