Penguins of Madagascar Take on ALS Ice Mission

If you ever keep up with what’s going on in the Internet (or to be more precise, if you’re active on any of the big name social networks,) chances are you’ve already heard of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Sure, pouring a bucket of ice-cold water over your head is stupid, but if doing stupid stuff can raise funds and awareness for a debilitating disease (ALS is also known as Lou Gerigh’s Disease), then by all means – let people be stupid for a day.

Over on Facebook, DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg challenged the stars of Penguins of Madagascar to try the Ice Bucket challenge, on the bet that he will make a donation to ALS research if they go ahead with it. A bit one sided in the favor of the Penguins, come to think of it – but they accepted it nonetheless.

You can watch a video of the challenge below:

Madagascar 3 Continues to Dominate on its 2nd Week

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted managed to top the charts in its first week, which is an impressive feat but hardly one that’s groundbreaking as majority of popular franchises top the box office on their first week, provided that there’s no big name competitor – but Madagascar 3’s 2nd week earnings prove that its initial success was no fluke.

Madagascar 3 Pulls In $60.4M During First Weekend

Contrary to what some critics initially predicted, the third installment of DreamWorks’ Madagascar series proved to be a hit as it managed to score an impressive $60.4 million at the US blox office and landed on the top of the ticket sales chart during its first weekend. Madagascar 3 actually opened slightly behind the previous installment Madagascar Escape 2 Africa, which opened with $63.1 million in 2008, but the threequel is actually doing well in international territories, collecting a $75.5 million from 28 markets, which may end up surpassing the sequel’s $603 million global take if it continues to pull in great numbers.
