Cannes Premiere a Possibility for Madagascar 3
A recent report by The Hollywood Reporter postulates that DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted is pegged for a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this May. So far, only one film has been confirmed for Cannes’ lineup, but an announcement is expected in a few days, says the report.
It is worth noting that DreamWorks has a history of premiering their animated features at Cannes, dating back to 2008 when Kung Fu Panda made a big impact with its world premiere in the prestigious annual festival. Other animated studios soon followed suit, with Pixar picking Cannes for the debut of Up in 2009.
The general release date for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted is June 8, with a story that has the former New York Zoo animals blazing a trail across the continent as they try to make their way back home to Africa. It is the first film in the series to be shown in Stereoscopic 3D.
