Madagascar 3 Continues to Dominate on its 2nd Week
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted managed to top the charts in its first week, which is an impressive feat but hardly one that’s groundbreaking as majority of popular franchises top the box office on their first week, provided that there’s no big name competitor – but Madagascar 3’s 2nd week earnings prove that its initial success was no fluke.
The traveling Zoosters of DreamWorks’ Madagascar 3 proved their staying power as they landed at the no. 1 spot for the second week in a row, bringing in $10 million last fridaym which means the expected take will be a $36 million finish and a $120 million cume.
As for its competitors, the 2nd spot is still occupied by Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, with a $20 million take and a two week take of $89.6 million. Snow White and the Huntsman is currently at 5 with a $13 million weekend, while Men in Black 3 is hanging on with a $9.8 million at number 6.
Of course, we’ll probably see the box office rankings get a little bit of shake up as Disney Pixar’s much anticipated Brave will open nationwide.
