Penguins of Madagascar Win Another Emmy
It couldn’t have come at a better time, but in what seems to be a great complement to Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’s current box office success, the Nickelodeon spin off Penguins of Madagascar also received acclaim when it took home the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Animated Program last Saturday, June 23.
The National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences event took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and was produced by Emmy-awarded animation vets Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley (Kim Possible, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command).
Penguins of Madagascar, which debuted in Nickelodeon last November of 2008, beat other Nick shows such as Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and Spongebob Squarepants, as well as PBS’s Curious George and Side the Science Kid, and APT’s Peep and the Big Wide World. Elmo Puppeteer Kevin Clash also won the Outstanding Performance in a Children’s Series for his work on Sesame Street.
